Since this is a brand new release, I’m going to keep this review spoiler free. That doesn’t mean it didn’t have a few issues, however. Somehow, though, this book was a five star read for me.

She also has some cringey writing quirks. I think she has excellent ideas but sometimes the execution of those ideas is a little rough. I have reviewed all of Maas’ books and been quite critical of her writing. A few weeks ago, I was sent an excerpt of the first five chapters in this book and was NOT impressed you can see what I thought here. I have never been as surprised by a book as I was with Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Irrelevant to the review but I love this cover and really regret not buying a physical copy of the book 😦
